Ministry History
The history of the Information Ministry began in the early part of the twentieth century with the establishment of radio stations as the first communication channel in this country. The radio was used to spread the ideology of the British and Japanese imperialists in order to gain the support of the Malayan populace then. In 1945, the National Communications Department was formed and incorporated as part of the government machinery. Five years later, the department was known as the Department of Information Services. In 1948, the Malayan Film Unit (MFU), using documentary films, launched an information campaign and psychological warfare against the communist threat. In October 1959, Syed Jaafar Albar was appointed Junior Minister responsible for information and broadcasting.More Information..
